EUROPEAN MARITIME DAY 2026: WHERE EUROPE’S OCEAN COMMUNITY COMES TOGETHER

On 21 and 22 May 2026, Limassol became the meeting point for Europe’s maritime community.

Organised by the European Commission together with the Shipping Deputy Ministry of the Republic of Cyprus and the Municipality of Limassol, European Maritime Day 2026 brought together around 1˙000 policymakers, businesses, researchers, public authorities, NGOs and maritime stakeholders to exchange ideas and shape joint action for Europe’s seas and sustainable blue economy.

Since 2022, WMH Project has been supporting DG MARE in organising this flagship event. This year too, the programme brought together high-level plenaries, thematic sessions, stakeholder workshops, exhibition spaces and networking opportunities, connecting European policy with expertise, innovation and practical solutions..

From the future of the European Ocean Pact and blue industrial leadership to clean maritime transport, marine protection, coastal resilience and the energy transition, the programme reflected the diversity of challenges shaping Europe’s maritime future.

For WMH Project, European Maritime Day embodies what international event management is all about: bringing a European community together, wherever the conversation needs to happen, and creating the conditions for ideas, expertise and partnerships to travel further.
