OCEAN PROTECTION: LOOKING BACK AT LA BALEINE

La Baleine, created for UNOC 3 and led by the agency’s Institutional Division, is one of those projects that extends far beyond the scope of its original production.

This 10,000 sqm venue, designed for the United Nations Ocean Conference, was developed within a unique context: the first UN summit ever opened to the general public. This unprecedented opening gave the project a particular responsibility — to bring a demanding subject to life through a format that was at once accessible, visible and engaging.

Serving simultaneously as a programming venue, a meeting space and a platform for conversations around ocean-related issues, the project stood out for its ability to connect content, experience and public engagement.

Its multiple awards reflect not only the quality of its execution, but also the strength of its original intent: a format designed to make a complex subject more visible, more accessible and more widely shared.
